Modernizing the platform. Trainerize’s web application had grown across years of iterative delivery on a .NET-based architecture reaching its limits for scale and pace of change. I led the project to redesign and rebuild it as a modern single-page application — scoping the migration, setting technical direction, and owning implementation through to a production beta. The result became the foundation the web team builds on today, recognized with ABC Fitness’s Growth Guru award in 2024. Post-launch, I took ownership of production behaviour, authentication, and an enterprise SSO integration for a major partner.
Running the platform day to day. I typically own frontend release engineering for the Trainerize web application — production-critical pull request review, release-risk assessment, and acting as the escalation point for critical defects. I manage most of the team’s web standards and frontend foundations, work that traces back to shared UI and date/time standardization I helped establish in 2019.
Growing the team. I’m the senior technical contact for onboarding new web developers, and I screen, interview, and help refine the assessment used to evaluate frontend candidates. I mentor engineers through code quality, architecture, and progressively scoped ownership, and provide input into career-level and promotion decisions.
Applied AI. Alongside the core platform work, I’ve contributed principal-level engineering to Trainerize’s early AI initiatives — from an AI virtual-coach prototype at ABC’s 2024 Global Hackathon to the frontend of the AI Workout Builder, the company’s first live AI feature for business customers.
